We provide safe, fun, and educational horseback riding lessons near Dallas, Texas.
Merriwood Ranch, located in Garland, Texas (just outside of Dallas), instructs all levels of English horseback riding in the Dallas area with a focus on the hunter/jumper discipline. Horseback riding lessons take place August through May each year with summer riding camp in June and July.
Our English horseback riding lessons are one-hour long group sessions once or multiple times per week that help riders build friendships and receive personalized instruction for learning to ride. Minimum age requirement for lessons is 6 years old. We offer lessons for ages 6 and above. We have a large herd of 40 horses, which allows us to pair each rider with a horse, enabling skill progression and success in each lesson.

Available lesson days and times are as follows:
- Tuesday, 10 am – 12 pm OR 4:30 – 5:30 pm
- Wednesday, 10 am – 12 pm OR 4:30 – 5:30 pm
- Thursday, 10 am – 12 pm OR 4:30 – 5:30 pm
- Friday, 10 am – 12 pm OR 4:30 – 5:30 pm
- Saturday: 10 – 11 am, 11 am – 12 pm, 12:30 – 1:30 pm, OR 1:30 – 2:30 pm
Each horesback riding lesson time slot offers a class for all skill levels. And riders looking for accelerated progression or wishing to join the Merriwood Horse Show Team need a minimum of two lessons per week.
Lesson Pricing & Packages
Our horseback riding lessons are offered August through May each year. You can try out lessons by signing up for a single group lesson or our four-lesson package. Once you enroll in a time and day, you will be enrolled for that slot for the year, unless you specify otherwise. This allows you the flexibility to try out lesssons before committing for the year while reserving your spot. When enrolling in our 4-lesson package, you will be given the opportunity to enroll again upon completing your lessons.
Single group lessons are $80 at Merriwood Ranch or $280 with our 4 lesson package.
