Remembering Sidney “Sid” Renee Gibbons

Sidney Gibbons

Sidney “Sid” Renee Gibbons was a daughter, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on May 21, 2021, at the age of 37.

She was born to David and Linda Gibbons on October 17, 1983, in Dallas, TX.

After graduating from high school, she chased her dreams of working with animals and became a gifted horse trainer. Sid spent her time sharing her love of horses and all animals with the Merriwood Ranch family. She taught many girls to love, care for, and ride horses. She was an animal rescuer, especially of cats. Best known as “The Cat Magnet.” She enriched the lives of families who were unaware of their need to love an orphan cat.

Sidney’s other great love was taking care of her Grandma Midge.

Sid is preceded in death by her fraternal grandparents, Al and Mary Gibbons, maternal grandparents, Buck and Midge Dempsey, Uncle Jack Dempsey, Uncle Bill Dempsey, and Uncle Tom Gibbons.

Sidney leaves behind many broken hearts. Her mother Linda, her father David, her sister Shelbie Clark and her husband Michael Clark, niece Aubrey Clark, nephew Austin Clark, and great-niece Diana Rylie. Uncle Fred and Aunt Bonnie Dempsey, Aunt Sandy Dempsey, Aunt Sue Dempsey, and numerous cousins. She leaves behind many friends.

Finally, Sid’s family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to two of Sid’s most special friends, Mary Beth Travis and Patricia Evans, and the entire Merriwood Ranch family.

A gathering of family and friends to Celebrate Her Life will be held on June 19, 2021, at 2pm at Merriwood Ranch, 2110 E. Miller Road, Garland, TX 75041. Casual attire.

In lieu of flowers, a donation* can be made to Merriwood Ranch.

We are so very sorry to read this. Sid taught my daughter at Merriwood, and my daughter loved having her as an instructor. She loved all things horses and was so full of life. I know she will be greatly missed by the Merriwood family. We are praying for everyone in this time.

My heart is very heavy. She was such a shining star in our horse loving community. She was not only a brilliant rider and teacher, she carried a presence of happiness every where she went. My heart goes out to her mom, and family.

I used to ride in the DHJSC local competition circuit. I never was able to go to their shows because of rain, but I heard how wonderful their facilities were…I do not know what happed to Sid, but my heart hurts for everyone who knew her. I used to ride at Bridlewood, but now I ride at Bayard…Please please please know that I will be praying for everyone, and I know the Meriwood family will always have her in their thoughts.
